The Context

Aplin Martin Consultants Ltd. is a multi-disciplinary firm of civil engineers, urban planners, architects, and land surveyors delivering cost-effective solutions for a diverse array of clients and projects across Canada.

The Challenge

Aplin Martin came to me to redesign their brand, and establish a visual identity positioning them as one of the top civil engineering firms in the Lower Mainland. They had no internal brand systems and needed a complete update of colours, fonts, and documents to ensure their new brand was translated across all platforms. 

They also wanted to overhaul their website, as it didn’t clearly define who they were as a growing company. They wanted to articulate all their services, catalogue all their projects, and indicate their growing 

The Solution

The solution was multifaceted and spanned a number of years, as I worked with their team as an on-demand resource for brand and graphic design, web development, photography, content management, document design and production.

  • I developed their new brand, complete with colour palettes, logos, fonts, custom iconography and photography recommendations.
  • In partnership with a web developer, I designed and managed the development and launch of their complex wordpress site complete with multiple vertical-specific landing page and project-specific minisite templates.
  • I created comprehensive templating for sustainable in-house use, as well as professional proposal and print material assets to ensure brand clarity as they rapidly expand.
  • I took photos of every building on their website, including those in the interior of BC and Alberta
