Context

When I began working with Rebecca, her goals were to develop a brand and brand personality that set her well apart from her competitors. She was just starting to hone her skillset and her target audiences and was ready to make the move to open her independent coaching business, so she needed a brand and a website too.

We had several meetings in which we evaluated what else was out there, and really honed in on her target market being a little different than most professional coaches in 2019. We also discussed the necessity of a flexible website, so we could test marketing strategies and communications pathways for different audiences as she build programs out.

As the pandemic rolled around, this became even more important as audiences moved predominantly online and asynchronicity became even more common. Rebecca’s website needed to grow and change with her and respond to the needs of her audience.

Method

Rebecca and I worked on a series of logo designs and colour-palettes with the goal of ensuring a simplistic logo allowed texture, energy, and illustrative elements to shine on her site.

We established her target market as younger and less gender specific than most coaches that were hitting the markets in 2o19 and kept her brand intentionally gender-neutral and energetic to appeal to a more varied audience. Her goal is to help early to mid-career individuals define what success really looks like in the pursuit of their dream career, and so keeping that “endless possibility” atmosphere where “when you put in the work on achieving that clarity” is required was key.

Design Process & Solution

Our goal was to give Rebecca a flexible platform from which to build her programs and offerings as her audience grew and changed. We worked with her to develop in-depth key pages on her website and key section frameworks that could later then be translated into many different iterations of live/self-directed programming with different sales funnels. Our goal was technical flexibility to facilitate strategic agility which endabled us to run as lean as possible throughout the proceeding years and the pandemic.

She now has many flexible landing pages and course funnel pages that we use interchangeably to try out new modes of audience connection.

Impact

Rebecca Beaton is one of the top listed coaches in Vancouver, and though this has everything to do with her committed and accountable action plans, her close relationships with her clients and energetic and inspiring nature, the brand and highly flexible wordpress website have helped her grow into the coach she is today, and have allowed her to grow her offerings and following with a website in her toolkit that requires very little management on her part.
